Anybody opened a savings account with these? If so, are they any good? The
rate is certainly attractive at 5.4%.

Yes

No
I'm still attempting to get a password to gain access to my money after
opening the Internet savings account with them on 12th July 2005.
Their customer service is s**t. I now seem to be in a cycle of getting
the same reply to emails irrespective of the question asked. It is
obvious that some of the replies are originating from their call centres
in India.
There also seems to be a standard 'delaying email' that they send
<Quote>
We have looked into your concerns and realise that we will need a few
more days to revert to you. Please accept our apologies for the
delay. We will definitely have a response for you within the next 2
days.
</Quote>
This can be followed up an hour later with another email giving the same
account details that have previously been sent - but not addressing the
questing actually asked.

Funnily enough they've just been featured on Working Lunch. Needless to say,
the phrase "if something looks too good to be true, it probably is" comes to
mind.

I honestly dont have a wrong thing to say about them, and I also notice now
that the have a few branches scattered around the country to perhaps address
the poor customer service issue.

Yes and yes.
I've not had any problems so far, but I haven't tried taking money out yet.

I concur, and, as yet, have had no issues withdrawing the money from them.

I only had to set up one direct debit... had no problems at a time when
there appeared to be mayhem for everyone else, however one transaction I had
really put me off.
I transferred £25k to Hisave only to find that it never left my current
account in January 2006. Despite 4 emails to icici and their confirmed
receipts this error still exists.
In my mind it would not take many errors like mine before their accounting
errors become unsustainable!

Yes, that would be annoying, but the reason could be that you did not have
this second "backup" DD set up -:) I did not set up two DD, they did.
But seriously, what puzzles me is why it should be necessary to use DD to
transfer money from your current account to HiSAVE account. Why not just
make a bank transfer from your other bank current account to HiSAVE.
Is that not allowed or possible with HiSAVE ?
