new style postal orders [message #375703] Di, 28 März 2006 11:13

I occasionally buy postal orders to send payment when other methods are
impractical.

Picking up a couple of postal orders at the post office this week I was
given a leaflet about the new style postal orders being introduced at
the end of April (basically they will be more like a cheque with the
name and amount printed on, up to 250 pounds in value).

This sounds great to me, but does anyone know if:

a) You will still be able to buy them blank, i.e. with the amount
printed on but the name left blank to be filled in later.
b) If you will still be able to choose between crossed and uncrossed.

Thanks in advance

Peter

Yes - whether or not the payee details are added is the buyer's choice.

Yes - once again, buyer's choice.

What you will not get in the future is a tear off counterfoil. You will
be given a printed receipt, instead, but I don't yet know exactly what
the receipt will say. Probably amount, and payee, if printed.
