| Question about Personal Finance Packages [message #375974] |

I use Microsoft Money 2003 in the past to manage my accounts. I've had
ongoing problems with the datafile corrupting on a regular basis for no
good reason which left me relying on backups. Consequently my
confidence in the product is now at an all time low, so much so that I'm
looking for alternatives that provide a more robust & reliable experience.
I don't really have the confidence to upgrade to Money 2005 and hope
that all problems are resolved. Reading reviews of the package on the
web, it appears that it doesn't really offer much more other then
unwanted bloat and unnecessary/unwanted integration with MSN Money.
Are there any recommendations for alternatives to Microsoft Money 2005?
Quicken would have been a possibility but from what I've read they've
pulled out of the UK market so no point going there....
Any recommendations for alternative packages?

I've been using MoneyManager by Moneysoft, since it was a DOS based
program. Adequate for my needs, and I haven't had any file corruption
problems. No program changes since 2000.

I have had very similar experiences with Microsoft Money. I haven't
found any suitable alternatives yet.
You could try http://www.thezeal.com/software/managerex/. I haven't
used it so I can't make any comments.
There are various free programs for Unix/Linux etc.
