I opened an ISA with slippery A&L prior to 11/07/05 (Direct ISA, original
issue).
The rate was 5.15% AER and this was effective from 02/09/05 (although I seem
to recall a figure slightly higher that that when I opened it).
It is now filed under the closed issue products, but "helpful" as the
current, past and closed interest rates pages on their site is
http://www.alliance-leicester.co.uk/savings/index.asp?page=c losed-rates I'm
still none the wiser whether my ISA is earning 5.15%, 5.20% or 4.50%!
Neither have A&L written to inform me. I suppose they think by advertising
rates on their website makes it unequivocal, but clearly anyone with half a
brain can see that it makes no real sense and there is something fishy going
on with the perspective of the information being presented.
Can anyone tell me if they know, what my ISA is currently earning, because
from the official source, I can't.

It seems crystal clear from that page that your account earned you 5.4%
from when you opened it (assuming this was after 03/02/05) until 02/09/05,
and 5.15% from 02/09/05 until the next rate change, which appears not to
have been announced yet.
I don't see how you can possibly think it might be 5.2% or 4.5%.
