Hi,
I was just reading a book about book keeping.
I would like to run a cashbook, an analysed one with all the colums.
Can anyone let me know where I can see a list of the colums I need to use.
Also, is there an excel spreadsheet cashbook that can download from
somewhere?
If it makes a difference, it is for a VAT Registered LTD company. (the book
I was reading was for a sole trader)
Thanks
D

The traditional cash book format is in two parts. Assuming you are cash
Accounting for VAT:
RECEIPTS
Column headings:
Total, VAT, Sales, Other
PAYMENTS
Column headings:
Total, VAT, Purchases, Motor Expenses, Heat and Light, Telephone,
Insurance, Repairs and Renewals...dah-di-dah-di-dah...Sundry Expenses.
You tailor the headings to fit your business and the CT600 Corporation
Tax Return you will need to fill in using the summarised figures.
You have one Cash Book per Bank Account, and a separate Petty Cash book
for each Cash Tin. The Cash Books are accompanied by (usually monthly)
Bank Reconciliations, reconciling Bank Statement balances at the top to
Cash Book balances at the bottom.

without the complications of sage etc.,

Ive used it for years for sole trader, Ltd Cos, charities & clubs.
(I'm not connected with them!)

The CT600 starts with trading profits adjusted for tax purposes.
What is more important is the information required for the detailed profit &
loss account at the back of the accounts and the tax computation.

don't tell the troll, let it do its own homework or more importantly make it
up as it goes along.
