Having time on my hands I've been watching those
daytime progs on selling/buying at Auction.
On this week's shows, three people each bought
a house that they had't looked inside, none of
them were really happy with the VFM that they
got.
I wonder if this is common result of selling at auction?

The programs also make out that buyers can make huge profits with little
effort. IMO this is bollox, as they never mention the buyers "premiums"
(or the VAT paid on said premiums).

Basically, the auctioneer's fees.

I assumed that all fees are paid by the seller. That
is the way that it normally works selling a house.
Some of the prices paid seem to high to have
X percentage added on.
Didn't it actually used to be that way in other
auctions. Aren't sellers premiums a new thing?

That's what I'm talking about - the "hidden" buyers' fees (never
mentioned on the TV programs)...and the VAT on top of these fees! The
seller pays the auction house too - what a fucking rip-off!
No, the buyer fees are not new.

Very Fine Mansion?

I don't think it is always the custom, when buying at
auction, to buy sight unseen. There is usually an
opportunity to view before deciding to bid.

I was interested here in the mentality of the buyer,
not the arrangements made by the seller

So was I. If he bought without viewing, the buyer's mentality
must have been fairly high.
