This made me think. If I do an electronic funds transfer from my
Natwest account to my CO-OP account, it takes 3 working days to appear
in the CO-OP. However, if I withdraw the cash from my Natwest account
at an ATM, walk across the road to the post office and do a Link Card
deposit of the cash into my CO-OP account, it appears immediately.

This is expected to change later this year for many banks and electronic
xfers. Why are you surprised though? - the system you described has
operated that way for many years.

You don't even need to do that, you could withdraw the cash from the Co-op
machine with your Natwest card, and feed it straight back in with the Co-op
card.

Barclays Telemarketer - I noticed you have a current account with us, but
not a savings account.
Me - Yes, that's correct, I hold my savings account with another provider.
Barclays - Can I ask why?
Me - Because your credit interest rates are not competetive.
Barclays - If you have a Barclays savings account you can transfer funds
immediately, but if you transfer money between accounts with different
banks, you lose out on interest for up to 10 days(!) whilst the money is
being transferred.
Me - Not if I transfer the money in cash.
