ATM charge though not displayed [message #386916] So, 14 Mai 2006 17:52

Hi,

There is an ATM at Leamington Spa train station that says free
withdrawals and doesn't mention a charge during the transaction -
although it charges =A31.50. I have googled though I am not so sure who
to complain to, as surely this must be illegal.=20

Your bank may be able to tell you who the owner of the machine is, as=20
too should the station manager.

Are you sure it was the ATM that made the charge, or
could it have been the bank at which your account is held?

To your bank. I suggest you get photographs of the machine before you do
so.

The requirement is a printed notice displayed on the machine. A notice on
the screen before you insert your card, and a further notice asking you to
agree to the charge before the money is released.

The ATM makes the charge. It states free cash withdrawals, though I
thought it was suspicious as the machine wasn't linked to any bank. I
withdrew some money, and I wasn't informed there would be a charge. On
Sunday I went passed again and a hand written notice said that the ATM
charges. I looked at my on-line statement and I had been charged.

I used that ATM at Leamington Spa on 6th of this month and I wasn't
charged. Is it the ones opposite the ticket office counters in the main
reception area?
