Hi I tried to open a joint savings account online with ICICI bank but as I
don't have a joint current account with my wife the bank would not let me
proceed as they need a cheque for £1 from a joint current account, I suppose
to prove identity. So before I waste time filling out any more forms online
is there an online bank that will let me open a joint high interest savings
account?
Thanks Mark

AFAIAA if you want to use an Internet account which operates by
debiting/crediting a high street current account then both accounts must
be in the same right, i.e.both joint.

We've opened a First Direct e-savings account in my wife's name, which works by
debiting/crediting our joint bank account.

My wife set up the same with FD (for her premium bond winnings!) late
last year. I can't see the account at all when I log in - one side
effect is that its balance isn't included in the mortgage offset calcs.
