Hi,
I'm about to go on holiday. Having chopped up my cards years ago I only
have a visa electron at present. I am considering getting a prepaid
visa or mastercard.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
Many thanks for any pointers,
Paul

The setup and monthly charges on prepaid credit cards are punitive.
Get a regular credit card and ask for a very low credit limit and an
automatic direct debit of the full balance from your current account each
month.
Egg Money cards have the facility to use the card in a prepaid fashion
where you charge them up and spend but they also include a credit limit and
cashback on purchases.

If you only cut the cards up then infact your account is still active and
you can ask for a replacement card. Some people think that cutting a card
up without informing the bank closes the account.
