That's not the question you should be asking.

The question you should be asking is do you know enough about
investing and have the time to commit to doing it yourself. Once you
determine the honest answer to that one, you'll know if you need an
advisor (and the load, the way to pay him or her) or not.

There's no reason a "do it yourselfer" should be paying a load and
there's no reason a person w/o the time or desire to learn should be
"winging" their financial future to save the cost of an advisor.
