Quality Larger Brokerage House Question

Quality Larger Brokerage House Question

am 02.09.2005 01:43:11 von unknown

I am aware that Vanguard and Fidelity are two of the largest brokerage
firms in the US. Are there other US brokerage firms that offer the
same large diversity of mutual funds as Vanguard and Fidelity? Thanks
in advance.

From your question, I'm not sure whether you are really thinking about
brokerage fund supermarkets or fund families. Vanguard is one of the
largest fund families, but in terms of brokerages, it is small potatoes
(revenue, assets, etc.).

Even as far as fund supermarkets go, it is only middling - 2600 funds

If you are looking for fund supermarkets, here's a short list from
Consumer Reports:

Firstrade - 9,000 funds, 9,000 NTF
Trading Direct - 9,533 funds, 8,453 NTF
BrownCo - 7,000 funds, 700 NTF

Then there's Fidelity, as you mentioned:
- 4,500 funds, 1,000 NTF

Siebertnet - 12,900 funds, 1,300 NTF

E*Trade - 6,000 funds

HarrisDirect - 9,500 funds, 850 NTF

TD Waterhouse - 10,000 funds, 1,300 NTF

PeterL mentioned Schwab ("thousands of funds"
)

If you are looking for broad fund families, you might also consider T.
Rowe Price and American Century.
