I put a new chart out on www.freewebs.com/timer-stuff.

Still trying to get a background color that shows up better.

Hi Arne,
what are you using for indicators? can you explain a little?
thanks.

Sure, I've put a new chart out as of last night, also..... First, I get a
price data download each night using Fasttrack (about 6,000 funds). They
also provide software to use the data. The charts I am posting are Fasttrack
charts. The charts have 6 sections from top to bottom. I can use them in
lots of combinations. The one I posted is JJJJVS, which means the top 4
segments show the J chart (a chart which shows the result of moving from one
fund (Red fund) to another (Green fund). The solid red line is the Red
fund..... the Red/Green line is the result of switching on a signal.

The yellow bar chart (segment 5) is the Moving Average line. That is the
basis for my simpler system, and the one I'm using in the contest (now, not
at first)........... The bottom segment is the Stochastics portion of the
chart. I fool around with the parameters to get a decent idea of the
strength of the Red fund. Both the moving average and stochastics give a
visual idea of the Red fund strength.

So, the first thing I do, is look at a chart to see where the perfect buys
and sells would be (probably a 6 month chart). I can put in 'tic marks' on a
chart and determine how many switches per year I would expect..... I can
then run software that iterates 5,000 combinations of long and short term
averages and find the pair that gives me not only a decent return over the
period (usually the current 3 months), but matches the number of s/y
(switches per year).... those parameters are what I put into the chart to
give that yellow bar chart you see in 'timer-stuff'...... I can also create
a signal from those parameters which I use to see how it compares with my
other schemes.

Each night, I rerun the part of Fasttrack that gives me the best parameters
over the most current 2 or 3 months. I can spot changes in strength this
way. I will put out a couple of moving average runs for different dates so
you can see how it moves from red to green...... now this is a bit
confusing.... The chart runs show green as being on a bull buy and red being
on a bull sell (or, bear buy)......... For some reason, Fasttrack chose to
use Red for the bull fund chart and Green for the bear fund.... so, on the
chart, Red is bull, and Green is bear.... it is the reverse of the report.

Anyway, have a look...... oh, if this seems tedious, it takes me about 5
minutes per night to do it.... unless there is a change in position, then it
will take me about 1/2 hour.

I put out 2 reports on www.freewebs.timer-stuff. One from 8/30/05 which
shows I was in a bear fund, and one from 8/31/05, which shows a switch is
indicated from bear to bull fund..... look at the 3rd column, s/y (switches
per year). I was looking for 5-10, so picked the first pair that had an
indicated 5.8 s/y.....

Thanks Arne, interesting stuff. I have to find a local FastTracker and
go look over their shoulder.
