"Figuring the Dow will plummet, but on panic alone, within two weeks.
Approx.
9000-9500."
One day to go. The DJIA opened at 10,447.69 on 9/6/2005 and it closed at
10,558.75 yesterday. One day to go.
Best case, Elle is wrong by 1,058.75 points. Worse case, she's wrong by
1,558.75 points.
If the DJIA drops 1,060 points or more today I will forever admire her and
read every word she types. If it doesn't drop 1,060 points or more today I
will continue to think of her forecasting ability what I do now.

Ah, what a thousand points+ amongst friends..?/g/
That's why I never try to out-guess the future. Prognostication can make one
look pretty silly.....

Kind of outside the box of this discussion.....
Why do people always feel obligated to be contrary. like "oh, he said that.
Let's see if I can find someone, somewhere, who disagrees".....
None of this matters. The market will tell us what is it doing.

Predicting the future is nearly impossible unless you are a master of the
language like Nostradamus was. He could word things in a way that could mean
just about anything.
Not a prediction but I'm concerned with Q4 and beyond. Traffic has been
lighter, mall parking lots not quite as full, etc. With money markets
yielding over 3% now (Vanguard 3.33%, Fidelity 3.23%) it may make some sense
to lighten up a little until a clearer picture presents itself. Of course,
the market sometimes does better with bad news than good news and I think it
should. Just the same, Vanguard Prime Money Market has beaten Vanguard Total
Stock Market Index for total return over the last 5 years.
Index funds, the investment of chumpions, and Elle. Note: no typo in
previous sentence.

Pick two cash-plump idlers in heated conversation under a tree - the
ones repeating 'yea every time the other replys 'nay. Add a dash of
principals, a scribbler according to trust, and everything's set to
make a wager. Bake until telling conditions and serve as fit to
contrarian obligators. Not exactly Lloyds of London, but Royce funds
may have them on the menu.
