The general market was up yesterday, most funds up few points, even
most all AC funds up but ASVIX American Century Small cap was down
12%!!! I have never seen a fund drop like that on most down days much
less an up day. What gives? aAso most places show the price drop but
MSN Money shows only a few cents drop!!! I have lot in the fund and
very worrined.

When you invest your hard earned dollars you should have a basic
understanding of what you are buying. Don't worry about the drop in price,
read the prospectus. I hope this in't a taxable account.

a yearly dist. but that much?

You're getting warm. Did you check their website?
!2/6/2005
$0.6227 short term gain
$0.7155 long term gain
That's $1.3382 off the NAV.

I think every single year I've been on this NG, at least one investor
has posted a question near the end of the year wondering why there are
such big drops in NAV.
Just like that other perennial question we get as April 15
approaches--why someone is being taxed on capital gains when they've
actually lost money in their fund over the year.
If there were a FAQ for this NG, those two questions would head the list.

x-dividend. Check the total number of shares you now own or the total
amount in your account.

Gee, it's been so long since the thing was updated, I had forgotten
about it. Maybe it's time to update it and repost it.
