Paramount wins Dreamworks
Viacom also to buy back $3 billion in stock

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Viacom Inc.'s Paramount Pictures sealed a deal
over the weekend to buy DreamWorks SKG for $1.6 billion, thwarting rival
NBC-Universal's five-month long courtship to acquire the independent movie
studio.

"The acquisition of DreamWorks is an enormous step forward in our ongoing
work to unlock the full potential of Viacom's brands and businesses," said
Sumner Redstone, Chairman and CEO of Viacom. "We can look forward to an
exciting and successful future with such a powerful team under one roof."
