For ideas, I would experiment with the several free online
allocation tools I listed for public consumption at

joon, are you restricted to just Vanguard funds? That would make a
difference in the advice. For example you could add a small cap or
microcap fund. Two choices among others are Bridgeway or Perritt. I
hold PREOX, Perritt Emerging Opportunities, whose holdings are very
small sized companies. Also if you want to get more aggressive,
consider moving the index fund to FAIRX, Fairholme Fund.

With Vanguard Star, you have large cap exposure in Windsor, Windsor II
and Primecap.

good luck,
Mo

Vangaurd isn't aggressive, or why not just say it is to get to your
point. Say you're all aggressed out with some Vanguard funds, all that
I could find you, which we'll call Level-1 Vangaurd aggression funds.
But, based on Vanguard perfromance ratings within a similar objective
funds, your Vanguard funds may exhibit lag. So, in all
aggressionalized possibilities, you're not actually aggessed out to
your fullest if you lag the market sector indices or non-Vangaurd funds
exhibiting higher performance. All you are is in Vanguard. So, to take
up the slack, we'll call those ahead of Vanguard, inclusive of Vanguard
funds that make the rating, Level-2 aggression funds. Between Level-1
and Level-2 is where you need to concentrate - on the tweak in your
head (adjusted once a year, so they say). If it's too much, then DCA
with Vangaurd at Level 1 -- you needn't know anything about Level 3
risk aversion aggression funds - the likes of Royce or Profunds - which
can be slick as ice, $10-25K min. on the ante, but optionally traded in
time to avoid being slamdunked and barred from all further trades.

Both look good in different timeframes. I had tagged PAGRX for a
potential follow in on JORNX's growth rating, though FAIRX looks an
interesting midcap selection. Paired PREOX for smallcap value to BRSGX
growth. JORNX and BRSGX are new additions, but I like the 2 year
aspect on FAIRX.

Howdy Joon,

I'd leave 3K in STAR, move 2K to Pacific Index, 3K to Emerging Mkt
Index and 3K to Extended Mkt Index.

best,

rono

I would add the Health, International Explorer, Explorer and Precious
Metals fund for an AGGRESSIVE stock allocation.

Happy New Year, Joon.

So, you want an aggressive portfolio. Here's a list of Vanguard's best
performers from their "Domestic Stock - More Aggressive list", I'm using
"Since Inception" numbers:

Capital Opportunity, 14.43% and
Primecap, 15.44% are closed to new investors

Explorer, 9.60%
Extended Market Index, 12.19%
Small Cap Index, 11.13%
Strategic Equity, 13.80%

Now, the more tame "Domestic Stock" list:
Windsor, 12.46%
Windsor II, 12.81%
Value Index, 11.34%
500 Index, 12.12%
Equity Income, 11.17%

I don't see a lot of difference in returns over time, all of the listed
funds have records of 10 years or longer.
Why take on more risk to end up in about the same place?

I would lose the REIT fund and put the money into the international fund.

Morningstar.com has a good page on setting up different types of fund
portfolios from aggressive to conserative. In the retirement section.
