Title Insurance Agency - MD

I am an attorney licensed to practice law before the Court of Appeals
of Maryland, and currently a federal employee. I am thinking of
engaging in the title insurance/settlement/search/closing on a
part-time basis until my retirement, which is a scant 4 years away,
after which I can devote 100% of my time to it. While I obviously know
real property law, I have no idea on how to get started in this real
estate closing business. I was told that I am qualified to take the
State Examination for Title Insurance Agent in MD but could find no
information on how to go about it. I went to the MLTA and the MD State
Insurance Commission websites but could find no detailed information on
the subject.
I would appreciate your advice as to whether this the right way to get
started in this business, and where do I find the required information.
Thanks and best regards,
FTT

Franzen,
It might be a good idea to look up books on escrow such as Escrow 1 by Walt
Huber and send them an e-mail. They may know how to direct you.
