Caris & Company analyst Rick Whittington maintained a rating of
"buy" on Advanced Micro Devices (nyse: AMD - news - people ),
saying the chip company has a significant lead over rival Intel
(nasdaq: INTC - news - people ).


"It's now clear that Intel will not catch up [until] its 45nm hits the
street, probably in 2008 but possibly late 2007," Whittington wrote in
a recent investor report.
