Ed's January electric bill +38.68% yoy, per KWH
Ed's January natural gas bill +33.32% yoy, per CCF
Tomatoes, +93.02% yoy per pound.

If you've read my previous posts, you know what I think of the "core
rate of inflation" scam.

Plus, the whole CPI is a lagging indicator of inflation anyway.

The best indicator of incipient inflation is the price of gold, which
has risen sharply despite the recent correction.

Another good indicator is the PPI, which is up 5.7% year over year.

gottcha! Ours was over 40% year over year however to property taxes
sunk upon hitting 65 and we got a bit rebate on auto insurance for
being long time cusotmers with no collisions but with furl prices the
way they are who can afford to drive? :-)
