asia and the metals - friday 2/24

good morning, good people,

Happy Friday!!!

Well, yesterday just didn't work right - the markets and the metals
were down. I don't know about you, but I find it very hard to make
money when the markets are down. Yeah, I know that some folks go short
or buy short or bear funds, but that goes against my nature. If I don't
like things I'll go to cash. Because the vast majority of investors are
long, going short is sort of like betting the NoPass line at craps -
you may win, but nobody wants to drink with you. ;-)

But today looks much better already. Asia had a nice day with Japan up
..04, Korea up .34%, Taiwan up .98%, HongKong up .28%, China up .62% and
only India down at -.42%. This works for me.

As for metals, yesterday was odd. Spot prices dropped, came back,
dropped again, etc. Ended up down a bit and miners followed suit (some
of the miners losses may have been carryover from the overall stock
market being down) reflected by the XAU closing at 137.05 -4.71. This
morning, however, gold is up at 550.7 +1.9, silver is 9.53 +.05,
platinum is 1022 +11, and palladium 281 -2.

I've linked a cute article written to someone that really sounds like
me. Not only haven't I sold on any of these corrections, I have been
buying and even added some juniors on this recent correction. teehehe

have a great day and a better weekend,

here's the link, but it's at www.gold-eagle.com - which has the best
articles on the metals market, but you want to use www.kitco.com for
your quotes and prices.

At casino I might want to everybody to drink with me.

At Profunds I don't expect anybody to drink with me. I simply want to
win.

Yeppers, you make a good point, and I'm only talking from my
perspective - as this is the way I'd feel. And, indeed, one could make
a point that my permanent portfolio fund PRPFX and my overweighting the
precious metals - are basically 'southside' bets. However, I'm betting
in both case that some investment will GAIN. And this is in keeping
with my nature.

Oh, BTW, gold is now up over $4 for the day.

take care,

rono

BINGO!!!!

Glamis Gold GLG is buying Western Silver WTZ for stocks and stuff.
However, WTZ is up 20.43% today so far and that lucky dog rono owns it.
cha-ching! Hell, I owned it for a while and it was already up ~80%.
But now . . . .

And this people, is why you want to consider owning the junior miners.
Geez, I even own pink sheet OTC miners and they're not junior, they're
rugrats. However, this is where you can make enormous money if you're
fortunate and the market gods are smiling.

peace,

rono
