1. Have been doing it a long time with success in all kinds of markets.
2. Believe that interest rates, the yield curve, increasing national debt
and deficit, increased personal debt by the consumer, housing bubble, and
investors piling back into the stock market are all indicators that the
market is at or near a top (in the US anyway), and are investing in such a
way as to protect assets and defend against a market decline.
3. Offer no load funds with low expense ratios to retail nvestors.
Can you make recommendations? I don't care what markets they invest in or
what asset classes. I just care that they agree with me that this is a time
to be cautious, and (unlike me) know how to implement such a strategy.
I understand how to hedge my bets using slice and dice with index funds, but
for this discussion let's assume I am not interest in that "solution."

Good luck with that. I can tell you this, I've owned T. Rowe Price Capital
Appreciation for 15 years and I've never experienced a down year. The fund
has had 3 managers over that time and a fourth is about to take over. It had
one down year out of 19, it was 1990 and it was down 1.25% for that year.

Thanks Ed, good suggestion, may wait and watch for a bit but that's a strong
possibility that I had forgotten about. I wonder if the NAV will take a dip
when Arricale and Giroux take over in June. Or if I should wait that long.

I think the markets are going to hit some rough spots this summer but don't
go by that. You're the best judge of what to do with your money.
