like to have some mutual funds also. I been reading about MATTHEWS INDIA
FUND (MINDX) but it sounds like it is a very new fund and it is a liittle
scary. Does anyone know anything about it?

Investing in any India fund can be scary. Matthews is an Asia specialist,
they know their stuff. That said, I much prefer closed-end funds. IFN and
IIF are very good.
Because the CEF's are trading a quite a premium I would go with Matthews for
the time being. If one of the CEF's then began trading at a discount I'd
switch.

Hi Romy,
Normally new funds can be scary. However MINDX is of the House of
Matthews and while very small, they do their particular thing very,
very well. Their specialty is asia and that's all they do.
I own MINDX and bought it the day it went public. I'd do it again
tomorrow. It's noload and while being a single country fund, you don't
want to bet the house, I believe it is worth a small play.
best,
rono

I took a 5% load fee when I invested in Eaton Vance Greater India Fund,
which was the only fund option about 3 years ago. My cost price was about
$6 when I purchased it and I don't regret the 5% load one bit given it's
performace over the past few years.
