asia and the metals - monday

Good morning all,

Well, precious metals had a wicked good friday with silver actually
leading all the sectors as listed at yahoo, being up 5.46%. All the
metals popped significantly and this was reflected in the XAU closing
at 140.51 +3.46. For example, gold started friday at 550 and at this
moment it's 555.60 -2.80; silver started friday at 9.53 and right now
it's 9.66 -.04; platinum started friday at 1022 and it's currently
10030 +3. Palladium is the only one that pretty much stayed flat and is
282 -2. Much of friday's outsized gains came on the back of news that
Glamis Gold GLG is buying Western Silver WTZ. Also SIL was upgraded.
WTZ is a junior but popped over 27%. SIL, however, is a major silver
miner.

And while this sort of buyout action has already been happening, it
will become more common as this bull market progresses. A lot of these
major miners have an enormous amount of cash and they're looking at
demand driven price increases in their product. This leads them to want
to get more product to market and with the extractive industries, where
bringing a new mine online takes years, the only quick and dirty way to
rapidly ramp up production . . . is to buy it.

And for us small fry nibbling around the edges, this means you want to
own the junior miners, and for that matter, even the rugrat miners. For
example, in addition to funds TGLDX and UNWPX, I own major precious
metal miners - GG, CDE, PAL, and PAAS; juniors BGO, AUY, AEMLW, GRS,
MRB, NXG and WTZ; and rugrats SLGLF.OB, SVMFF.PK and YZCCF.PK. As this
bull market in the metals continues, some of these could go up
enormously and I am not talking about doubling - but ten or more times.

Enough. Sorry for the digression. On to asia.

What a WONDERFUL wicked good day in Asia today! With the exception of
NewZealand (closed), it was a green board. Not huge gains anywhere in
particular, just a solid up day everywhere. These are all gains - Japan
..57%, Korea .66%, HongKong .59%, Taiwan .36%, China .02% and India
..80%.

Let's all have great day.

peace,

rono
