PP is not a bank therefore no FDIC for their lousy 1% over say NetBank
or Etrade bank. Great non reward / risk. See page 6 ... but I knew
this already.

Barclay's mutual fund isn't different from other mutual funds where there is
no FDIC.

This non banking thing and abuses seen is a whole issue the congress
will ignore until at least after elections. The gutless wonders that
they are. The income difference between high and low annual rates is
trivial and never compensates for the risk involved. Personally I
think there is a huge difference between the quality of PP and Barclay
not to mention service, but I have no need or desire for either.

Try HSBC bank at www.hsbcdirect.com It is paying 4.8% on it's online
saving account and it is FDIC insured!

Why even bother responding?

Thanks for that useful information. Now liquidity is the thing, as one needs
to move the cash back into the brokerage account on short notice when other
investment opportunities arise.

You can play the semantics all you want. Only the prospectus matters.
