Poor old abelard never could understand a joke due to him having no
sense of humour. It's one of the symptoms of his Narcissistic
Personality Disorder I'm afraid .......

expectations
7.is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to
achieve his or her own ends
8.lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the
feelings and needs of others
9.is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him
or her
shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

Sums up abelard nicely I think. Saddest thing is there's no cure for it
so poor abelard will continue to be shunned and despised by anyone
unfortunate enough to come into contact with him.
