Assuming that the company is a legit one there
isn't much to know.

As you have already been informed, if you wish to
succeed in the job you will be expected to pressure
low paid and destitute people to take out high(ish)
priced loans that they might not be able to afford.

To succeed, you will have to leave your morals at
home each day you go to work.

The job is legal, but only just. No doubt there is a
small part of the community who prefer this work
than crossing the line into something that isn't.

Thanks again for your help. Looking into what they do further, it is
selling home, electrical and white goods to people - with a loan I'm
assuming. One thing that they don't do - and I'm told it's not viewed
too highly - is fall under the regulation of the FSA. What do you
reckon?

So it's either persuading people to buy things they can't afford, or
trying to get the money out of them once you've done it.
I'm sure there are people who need this sort of service, and who do
manage to pay, but, depending on the pressure put on them by the
salesman, many will only get into deeper trouble.
I think comments generally have all been of the same opinion, that
this could be a nasty sort of job, but again, as has been said, you,
personally don't have to push them that hard. It's a battle between
your conscience and your pocket.
